Youth Programme

« At Solstice, we connect with children, schools, youth, families, individuals and groups »

Youth Policy

At Solstice we connect through our learning and participation programme to create a space where children and young people can experience connections with artists, and the work of artists, as well as fostering their own creative possibility.

We connect most strongly through our visual arts learning and engagement programme, IFI schools screening programme, general performance programme, transitional work experiences, and our resident toddler group Lamha Beaga. We must also acknowledge the vast number of schools, dance and musical groups who use the centre annually.

Supporting Youth with eCOMM Merchant Solutions

eCOMM Merchant Solutions and Solstice Arts Centre are engaged in a two-year creative programme focussing on creative arts opportunities for young people. Many of our youth activities are possible only with the generous support of eCOMM.

“eCOMM Merchant Solutions is delighted to be part of this new venture. We hope the investment will allow the Solstice Arts Centre to continue to develop the creative skills of our youth today, and for the arts to be part of the culture of our youth in the future.” Valerie Moran, eCOMM Merchant Solutions

Workshop Outcomes

Youth Committee

Solstice has invited 13 – 18 year-olds to become part of our first-ever Youth Programming Committee, encouraging young people to come on board to discuss, develop, programme, and organise vibrant and relevant cultural events that matter to them and their peers. The group is made of young people from around the county who have a varied interested in the arts from theatre and visual arts to technical production.

Twelve members of the committee meet fortnightly at the centre, discussing the role of Solstice in the provision of arts engagement opportunities among their age group. The committee will have a dedicated youth page in our programme brochure, as well as input into marketing elements such as website, social media and PR.

ACT OUT is a not-for-profit youth theatre company creating quality theatre experiences with young people in the Meath area.

MISSION AND VISION

Act Out Youth Theatre sets out to provide an annual programme of activities including weekly youth theatre workshops and performance opportunities that respond to the needs and interests of the young people. We want to ensure that the youth theatre programme is accessible to all in Meath.

The Artistic Vision of the group will be guided largely by the students, however it will likely consist of comprehensive performance training sessions and regular rehearsals aiming towards at least one major production per year.

  • Theatre trips
  • One-off specialised workshops
  • Smaller in-house displays of work etc.

A proud member of the Irish youth theatre community and affiliated to Youth Theatre Ireland. Act Out Youth Theatre is a not-for-profit charity, partnered with Solstice Arts Centre & supported by Meath Arts Office.

Solstice Arts Centre's support of Act Out Youth Theatre is made possible by the generous support of eCOMM Merchant Solutions.
