Are you aged 13 - 17 and love to play an instrument?

This is your chance to play with British Composer Awards winner Brian Irvine and his thirteen piece ensemble at a very special gig in Solstice Arts Centre on Saturday 9 March. Solstice and Brian are looking for young musicians aged 13 – 17 who want to help create genuinely fresh sounds, to throw off the confines of traditional music lessons, and to creatively connect with exceptional musicians from a variety of disciplines. Participants will get to explore new sounds with the ensemble in the afternoon, before joining in live on the Solstice stage that evening with the award winning band.

The ensemble is a visceral, boundary busting group making a special type of music - a music that effortlessly mutates elements of jazz, contemporary classical, improvisation, theatre, thrash, cartoonary and ensemble playing in a manner that screams irreverence, joy and virtuosity! This is a rare opportunity to hear a band that truly “scares the bejabers out of the diehards.”

15 young musicians will perform a brand new improvised piece on Saturday 9 March with the Brian & his ensemble. Tickets for the evening cost €18 / €16 and are available from the Solstice Box Office –  046 909 2300 or CLICK HERE.

To get involved, contact Erin Kenny, Programme Manager at Solstice Arts Centre on, detailing the instrument you play and experience in performing and/or grades. All instruments and abilities will be considered – there’s no such thing as too inexperienced for this project! Closing date for submissions: 5pm on Thurs 28 February
