Solstice Arts Centre is delighted to present SURVEYOR 2018, the seventh annual open submission exhibition of works in all disciplines by artists currently living in or originally from County Meath.

SURVEYOR serves to support, value and encourage Meath artists in the development of their practices and creative careers by providing them with the opportunity to show new and recent work. The exhibition, curated by a different invited external curator each year, presents an overview of contemporary visual arts practice throughout the county and serves as a celebration of its diversity.

2018 also sees the continuation of the Solstice Visual Arts Award, which has a value of €1,500. This is presented at the opening of the exhibition to a work of distinction in any medium, with previous recipients including Mary Furlong (2017) and Kevin Lindsay (2016).

This year’s invited curator is Eamonn Maxwell. A respected gallery director, curator and former Board member of Solstice Arts Centre, he led Lismore Castle Arts in Waterford from 2009 to 2016 and is currently Collection Adviser to The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon. He is passionate about visual arts programming and public engagement, and he travels extensively to see exhibitions and visit artists’ studios. Eamonn is also an active commentator on contemporary art internationally through his blog, Curator On A Bike.
