Curator(s) at Solstice

Solstice is looking to engage project curator(s)

The curator (s) will work with the Artistic Director to develop and implement a series of exhibition at the centre in 2019/2020.  Curators will research and liaise with artists, technicians, the public, and Solstice staff in the successful delivery of our visual arts programme.

Skills Requirements
Significant curatorial experience in public arts galleries. The role require knowledge of curating exhibitions for diverse audiences and will require liaison with our existing visual arts engagement officer to develop strong and absorbing support programmes. Fee is negotiable for this contract post.  Whilst Solstice will consider remote working partly for this post, successful candidate(s) are required to attend the centre on a regular basis.  A cover letter summarising your experience, interest and suitability for the opportunity, your Curriculum Vitae and samples of work should be forwarded.

Panel: Visual Arts Technicians

Solstice is looking to establish a panel of visual technicians for exhibition and installation. 

Skills Requirements

You will have professional experience working within the visual arts sector. You will have the ability to set up, operate and maintain a wide variety of equipment and related systems for installation within our galleries and public spaces.  Within this, we are also looking for Highly IT-literate technicians, proficient with both Microsoft and Mac computers and operating systems. You will be knowledgeable about various analogue and digital film formats. Whilst Solstice will provide relevant training, ideally you have a sound understanding of, commitment to, Health and Safety regulations and have relevant certification/accreditations.

A strong team player with excellent communication skills, you will build rapport with colleagues and external artists and stakeholders easily, understanding their needs and supporting their successful installation. As the Solstice Arts Centre is publicly owned it is an “accountable person” for deducting PSWT.

Solstice Café/Kitchen Assistant staff

Solstice Arts Centre is currently looking for an enthusiastic and friendly café/Kitchen assistant to join the team in our vibrant café. The ideal candidate should have experience in making and baking, but also be willing to support customer service when required in the cafe. Great opportunity for someone looking for daytime hours but must be available to work Saturdays. HACCP training is desirable. Immediate start. FOH of House Assistant

Solstice Arts Centre is currently looking for a Front of House Assistant. The role and responsibilities involve working closely with Solstice Front of House team in foh, box office and café/bar operations. Candidate must be flexible and be able to work both daytime and night time, reflecting the vitality of the Centre. Candidates must be friendly, polite and professional in conduct. Whilst in house training will be provided to the successful candidate, computer skills, cash handling experience are advantageous.
